Who wants to hear about the latest sewing pattern to join the Tilly and the Buttons family? All of you? Yay! Meet your new handmade wardrobe must-have, the Jaimie pyjama bottoms and shorts.
Photographed before lockdown, the Jaimie PJs are an ideal sewing project for beginners, and a satisfyingly speedy make for more experienced stitchers. Super comfy, they’re perfect for sleeping, lounging, and working from home – just throw on a smart blouse and you’re ready for your Zoom meeting!
We wanted to make this pattern as accessible as possible for new stitchers, so before lockdown we filmed a free video tutorial where Tilly takes you through making the Jaimie pyjama bottoms from start to finish.
Since it’s a great pattern for teaching people to sew, and since we often get requests for patterns for teens and tweens, we’ve added an extra small size to this pattern – equivalent to UK size 4 / US size 0 / EUR size 32.
You’ll never want to get dressed when you’re wearing your Jaimie jammies!
The only vaguely fiddly part is the buttonholes, but these are for the optional drawstring only, so you can always leave them out. If you do want to have a go at sewing buttonholes, we have made videos on how to sew both one-step buttonholes and four-step buttonholes (depending on your machine) – go check them out!
Order the printed sewing pattern and we’ll send you a beautiful package in the post, with full-colour instruction booklet. Made in the UK, our patterns are printed on durable paper which you can use again and again without it tearing or scrunching up. As well as our online shop, you can buy them from fabric shops and department shops around the world – check out our list of stockists.
Prefer to print your own pattern? Buy the digital version and you’ll get an email in an instant with a PDF to download. You can either print it at home on A4 or Letter size paper and stick the sheets together, or send the A0 version to a copyshop or pattern printer to print full scale.
Both versions are available at our entry-level price reserved for our easiest of peasiest patterns 🙂
The brilliant thing about Jaimie is you don’t need that many notions to make it – hooray! Check out the online shop page for more details on exactly what you need. We’ve designed the pyjama bottoms to have an elasticated waist with an optional added drawstring, however, if you can’t get your hands on elastic at the moment that’s no problem! You can leave the elastic out and use the drawstring alone to cinch in the waist.
